28 years "Popelbühne" eV, a provider of free youth welfare

Since 1990 we are at Prenzlauer Berg in the Dunckerstrasse at home. Children and teenagers attend our courses and workshops.
You can use professional offers that are priceless elsewhere.

In 1989, the occupation of the teaching soaps and brush goods vending office of the GDR in the Dunckerstrasse 16 took place.
The VEB civil engineering used the rooms for years as recreation rooms.
Coals piled up in the current office, changing pins stood in the current kitchen.Beer and schnapps bottles paved the way in the current theater space.Slices and blinds were smashed.
The construction, the renovations and the repair of the completely dilapidated premises were begun.
In 1991 the children's play center "Popel Bühne" eV was founded
It evolved from a pure children's center to a children's and youth center.
In 1997 we became a "recognized institution of free youth welfare" and successfully expanded our work with children and adolescents in the neighborhood around Helmholtz-Platz.
In 98, we had two permanent employees, one SAM employee, four interns, three GZA staff, two honorary and many honorary staff. Instructors in the fields of ceramics, enamel, dance / pantomime, theater, drums, painting / drawing, nude drawing, choir, singing, music therapy, puppetry, performance, improvisation were employed.
Alternating short-term offerings have been instrumental in making the closure we were facing in the fall of 98 ineffective.
The foundation of Jupp 99: - a network of free bearers in Prenzlauer Berg - has promoted the solidarity and commitment of our children and young people. We organized actions together. The demonstration with 500 participants to the Red City Hall in autumn 98, was a highlight in the children and youth work.
Since 1999, Michael Wartenberg is the additional centerpiece of the Popelbühne. With his knowledge of club law, statutes, legal foundations, accounting and so much more, he has been supporting the stage to this day ever since. Thanks.
The children's play center "Popelbühne" eV was and is a district, and youth welfare office Pankow promoted project.
A lack of demand promotion was agreed, as planning reliability was urgently needed.
In January 2000 our longtime colleague Kerstin Gerisch left us. Kerstin Dankert voluntarily took over her duties, because then this position was canceled by the district office. Nevertheless, in August we were able to hire Kerstin Dankert and thus continue the work seamlessly. We have tried to mitigate the financial restrictions by increasing the efforts of volunteers and friends of the Popelbühne. We also worked with two trainees, two GZA employees, two colleagues with annual contracts according to § 19 para. 2,1, four honorary employees, volunteers a very active board and now again with three permanent employees.
We have learned to live with the financial uncertainties, the permanent state - budget freezes - and cuts. What was important was that we were nevertheless able to offer continuous capacity utilization and a high level of courses and activities. We were able to avert the announced move to the 10th elementary school and the closure of our ceramic workshop has not taken effect
The proximity to the Helmholzplatz and the associated social problems has made us a point of contact for the most diverse needs. Cooperation with the neighborhood management began in 2000.

The stage is secured by a fixed amount promotion by the Youth and District Office Pankow. Own funds and share prices finance receivables.

At the moment we work with a fixed position, 10 course instructors, offer weekly20 different courses for approx. 250 children, adolescents and young adults.
Tanja Hauser has the children's play center "Popelbühne" eV28 years from the first moves until the end of 2017 successful, committed, self-sacrificing, enduring and with a lot of passion, founded and managed. Projects, festivals, theater productions, demonstrations, foundation associations, acting classes, vocal training, puppet theater are organized and organized.
